The Time Traveler Essay: A Must Read

Please take the time to read this essay (it is admittedly quite long, but it really is worth it). It is chilling and poignant. This fictional encounter with a Time Traveler from the near future reads like a novel because it it written by a novelist who engages speculative fiction based on historical realities that he cites at the end of the piece. In the past many furturists have been off the mark by a long shot, but in my opinion the speculated future in this essay is not only possible but probable.

If you take nothing else from reading this please realize that all this navel gazing by the media and the Democrats is going to get us all killed. George W. Bush is not the enemy - he is, in fact, one of the only world leaders who gets it...

DAN SIMMONS - Time Traveler Essay

It's a great read and he captivated everyone that "does get the potential of something like that happening if we don't wake up"....have you been back to his site and checked out his May/June message?

Indeed I did check out the May/June message and it as compelling as the short story itself. Simmons is not a light weight and I think his Time Traveler Essay was a careful exercise in logical progression. I don't know how you can look at the state of war in this world and not see that extremist Islam is involved in nearly every single conflict.

America, thank God didn't let political correctness derail the Cold War but we sure as hell are letting it take us down now. It's time to speak clearly and understand fully where Islam will take the world if it is allowed to dominate...

This was an absolutely stunning and frightening essay, well worth the time it took to read through. Can you imagine the chills that ran down my spine when first thing the next morning I read this headline on Drudge.

"Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims."

It would appear from this very real headline that the near-future Simmons was postulating about is nearly here.
