The one that is perfectly clear in the aftermath of this electoral wipe out - our taxes are going up. When the smoke clears and the victors go to work on the "bad" economy, global warming, stem cell research and Bush's "adventure" in Iraq we will all see if sound bite governing will actually work.
The problem for us is that they will still have Bush to beat up for 2 more years. Now, if history holds true and the tax increases, environmental roadblocks and handouts this Congress will surely accomplish do not produce any real effects until 2009 then Bush will have left us with a vibrant and growing economy. The Democrats will continue to blame Bush for years to come but when the American people "feel the pain" they will blame the party in power. I will then experience what the Germans call schadenfreude.
def.
scha den freu de
- noun
satisfaction or pleasure felt at someone else's misfortune.
Today the Democrats are experiencing it. I hope they enjoy it while it lasts.

The Democrats have, I suspect, made a fundamental intellectual error; they believe that this election was a rejection of conservativism, and they will probably move to the left in the next two years. This should be fun to watch, although it will be painful.
The problem is that conservatives no longer run the Republicans, and they may make the same intellectual error as the Democrats. We are going to have to fight a Republican civil war, or we will end up in the same position as we were in the last election.
