Politivcal Correctness vs Political Correctness

Political Correctness was always on a course for self destruction, it is the inevitable conclusion as the hosting culture dies under it's repressive weight.

Almost everyone at one time or another regardless of political affiliation shakes their head in disgust over the stupidity of political correctness. Imposed by faceless bureaucracies it's easy enough to separate yourself from the inherent insanity of it. For me I'm bothered by the insidiousness of it, starting out as it does on the periphery of good manners, and dare I say common decency. Like all things on the left (make no mistake PCism is a construct of the left) it always goes too far until it's divorced from common sense and partnered with evil.

It's when one value of PCism collides with another that the delicious irony tastes so sweet. In a HumanEvents.com piece "When political correctness collides with political correctness…" by Roger Hedgecock we can revel in a little comeuppance for the nemesis of common sense. Read on...

What happens when one politically correct notion collides with an opposite politically correct notion?  Disastrous chaos if you’re the pessimistic type, but hilarious comedy if you’re an irony fan.

Take the true story (dailymail.co.uk) of British feminist journalist Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury.

She was standing in line behind a Muslim couple at the supermarket check-out, incensed at the indifferent attitude of the Muslim husband as his hajib covered wife struggled to load their many groceries on the conveyor belt.

Cinnamon confronted the husband, demanding to know why he didn’t help his poor wife with the groceries.

When he ignored her, Cinnamon brushed by him to help the woman herself in solidarity with her oppressed sister. Cinnamon later said “this is what feminism’s all about–women helping women”.

Husband and wife called the cops and had Cinnamon arrested under Britain’s “hate crimes” law, charging her with interference with their religion.

Seems the Muslims believe that women should do all the work in the household (including grocery shopping) and that the only reason the Muslim husband was in the supermarket in the first place was to accompany his wife who, without him, could not go out in public at all.

What a hilarious confrontation.

The feminist journalist thought to bully the husband into acting in accordance with her politically correct feminist views.

The Muslim couple defended the politically correct thought (espoused by progressives everywhere) that no culture is superior to another and that they were protected by British law to practice any (to non-Muslims) misogyny Islam allows.

The politically correct Left gave the Muslim couple absolutely no reason to adapt to Western ways.  To the contrary, Cinnamon’s progressives have indoctrinated immigrants to believe that their culture is as good as any—and they continue to believe it is superior to any Western notion of culture.

In fact, the Muslim couple used the weakness in Cinnamon’s own culture to attack her by invoking the “hate crime” law!  LOL!

The jury returned a Not Guilty verdict, but I doubt Cinnamon will be confronting Muslim shoppers any time soon
.

Surely we in the west don't understand (fathom actually) the Muslim attitude towards women, but we have basically told them and ourselves that all cultures are equally good. You are welcome to practice your culture as you see fit inside ours. If that's the PC view then what right does the woman have to impose her PC views of gender "equality" on the Muslims?

What's next? Is she going to tell the Muslim man he must sit when he pees? No more standing urination for you. Oh yeah, its coming to a city council near you.

PCism, Islam and the Unholy Alliance

That old adage the enemy of my enemy is my friend like most old adages has some truth in it. Common goals bind unlikely conspirators for short term gains. The problem is that eventually goals diverge and one is likely to come head to head with their new friend. This happens in every aspect of life and is certainly true of politics and sports. Usually the end result is the end of the season or the losing of an election, sometimes tragic, yes, but not the end of the world. But it also happens in war, all kinds of wars, and when friends suddenly become enemies people can die.

So we have to wonder how the forces of expansionist Islam and modern leftism will reconcile once their common enemy is defeated. The common enemy is of course America and the West. Democracy, free speech, the rights of the individual and the rule of law are at odds here. While Political Correctness, the religion of the left, pays lip service to all these tenants their desire to control all things is not that unlike Islam's demand for unquestioning devotion.

Islam and the Political Correctness is on a collision course, it has to be. The very charges PC lays on conservatism and Christianity are amplified tenfold in the ultra intolerance of Sharia Law. Gay rights, free love, atheism and especially freedom of expression are sacrilegious in Islam. Once the common enemy of both is vanquished PC is doomed.

Some believe Political Correctness is a self extinguishing philosophy anyway. The real problem is that it will destroy everything on it's way out. With that in mind it makes perfect sense for expansionist Islam to seek this alliance. What do leftists gain? Unless they see the world as unredeemable anyway and their nihilism overrules all else, there is only the subjugation of Sharia Law in their future.

When someone on the left examines this alliance intelligently, bringing it out to it's logical conclusion the light bulb clicks on. Their mistake is trying to get their comrades to take the blinders off. Read the story of Eric Allen Bell a filmmaker mugged by reality while making his documentary "Unwelcome" about the opposition to the construction of a proposed mega-mosque in the heart of the American Bible belt.

His intent was to undress the bigoted, small minded intolerance of the locals in a small Tennessee town. He smelled a rat and his awakening to what Islam really is got him ejected from his association with his own kind. He doesn't suddenly become a Bible thumping conservative, but he does understand that the locals while being inarticulate have the right instinct. Radical Islam is a cancer.

The Politically Correct left will hear none of it. They will not answer specific points or actually address the concerns of those who fear Sharia, they only issue threats and the condescension of dismissal.

It's a compelling story - and it's frightening because Political Correctness rules the Western world whether we like it or not. It will bring us all down in it's death spiral. Islam's immunity to PCism will protect it until the time comes to swoop in and fill the void.

FOX News: Sharia and Balanced

For liberals who love to hate FOX News I'm afraid I have some bad news. It seems FOX is going to rob you of one of your hate-points. FOX is embracing Islam and will be shouting down anyone who disses the religion of peace... It won't be long now and all those skirt-wearing blondes running around the FOX studios will be covered from head to toe.

Surely I'm joking, right? Well... Considering that one of the largest shareholders in News Corp (the parent company of FOX) is none other than Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a nephew of Saudi King Abdullah. Yes, this is the same Prince bin Talal who tried to give Rudy Giuliani $10 million following the 9/11 attacks. The Mayor tore up the check and said no thanks to the cheers of 10 million Americans. Remember that seventeen of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia.

What does it mean that Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is a large stake holder in News Corp and that Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp has bought a 9% share of The Rotana Group, a major media conglomerate in the Arab Middle East run by al Talal? Nothing good.

The FOX news division surely has autonomy and will report on Muslim, Middle East and Arab issues with its "fair and balanced" touch. Not so fast.

Dianna West reports on FOX's commentary of the Geert Wilders trial in The Netherlands. She writes:
I’ve grown used to Fox News and all other media ignoring not just the Wilders story but also the cultural story of the century, altogether – namely, the Islamization of Europe, something Wilders, a great admirer of Ronald Reagan and a committed supporter Israel, is dedicated to halt and reverse. The survival instinct of the Dutch, who, earlier this month gave unprecedented electoral victories to Wilders and his party, is a strong indicator that this civilizational transformation is not irreversible.

She Continues:
Regardless of cause or effect, the fact remains that in classifying Wilders as a fascist (Beck), denouncing his views as “extreme, radical and wrong” (Krauthammer), and slandering him as a “demagogue” (Kristol), Fox’s opinion-leaders expressed themselves in terms that surely thrilled not just Murdoch’s Islamic prince-cronies, but also the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). This is the organization driving the advance of sharia in the world...

This makes me sad on many levels - one, as a huge fan of Krauthammer I am dismayed that he doesn't see the danger Europe is in and that Wilders could very well be the Dutch Churchill. The Brits ignored Winston Churchill at their own peril. Secondly, I see this as another nail in the coffin of FOX's credibilty. The people on the center/right side of the political spectrum were buoyed by the introduction of FOX a decade ago as a safe habor in the sea of media leftism. But over the years FOX has slowly turned itself into a shoutfest network elevated by goofiness and lack of journalistic seriousness. It's hard to cut through the veneer of cultural liberal orthodoxy without a trusted and credible TV Network unafraid to present (and even defend) conservative views. Now this...

I used to consider the term FAUX News to be nothing but pure jealousy because FOX continues to beat the pants off CNN and MSNBC, but now I realize it was just a "descriptive" term.

Once again I am without a TV news organization that doesn't offend my sensibilities.

Bitter Economic Pill has (good) Side Effects

There might just be one or two good things
that come out of a substantial global economic recession. So, you're looking for a silver lining amongst all the doom and gloom? A couple of topics that have piqued my attention recently might just qualify.

One that comes to mind immediately is the about face some leftists are doing on CAGW or Catastrophic Anthropologic Global Warming. Now that their guy has won and the Dems firmly control the Congress this club they use to beat conservatives over the head with is no longer necessary. The fact that the world actually seems to be getting colder since the 1998 peak and all the other evidence that is piling up against the Gorbots and the rest of the alarmists might have something to do with it. Or that they realize that their guy will get the blame if the civilization killing measures they propose were actually employed (not that they ever really supported Kyoto or any number of goofy plans anyway). Harold Ambler over at the Huffington Post is waiting for his apology from Al Gore - its actually quite a good read.

The second thing that an economic downturn will do is help defund the terror masters due to lower oil prices. We have been beating ourselves in the GWOT by funding both sides. Funneling billions into Iran and Saudi Arabia as well as Russia for their oil while spending billions monthly to fight terrorists seemed counterproductive to most of us. Lower demand and OPEC's inability to truely cut production without its members cheating is having a devastating effect on the terror masters in Iran. Michael Ledeen has a great piece on the situation in Iran that truely is a must read. He is perhaps the most insightful commentator on Iran's war against the civilized world in the all the Western media.

Lastly, for the first time in years illegal immigration from south of the border is down - significantly so. Most people site the economic woes in the U.S. for this and its hard to argue when jobs are disappearing by the 10's of thousands every month. When coupled with a real step up in enforcement in the last few years the effect is noticeable. If it weren't for the disastrous reform legislation that turned many in his own party against him the President would have gotten high marks for these real accomplishments down at our southern border.

Even before amnesty bill was defeated in June 2007, the Bush administration was doing much more to enforce the laws already on the books - although he never will receive any credit for it. The fenced portion of the U.S. border has increased significantly in the last 18 months. Worksite enforcement has really been beefed up in recent years, with the number of criminal and administrative arrests increasing more than five-fold since earlier in Bushs' first term. The number of Border Patrol agents has more than doubled to over 16,500. In 2007, 285,000 aliens were removed, almost doubling the number in 2002. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) is likely to match its 2007 total again in 2008.

Not much consolation for these terrible economic times but it's something. Whose to say that once things turn around that these things won't rear their ugly heads again...

Bush Flamed by a Shoe Thrower

I share this from the Ace of Spades HQ blogsite not because I think this incident was really very important, it was not, but because I thought the comment section was interesting and funny. I have included one of those comments allegedly submitted by an Indian national turned US citizen. Comment # 143 drips with passion and incredulity at the way we (Americans) tear ourselves and this country down. There is a time when we need to step back and see the world through a different pair of eyes...

Bush Visits Iraq UPDATE: More On Bush's Reaction To The Shoes
This is probably as close to a victory celebration as the President is likely to get. Slipping out of the White House over the weekend, Bush flew secretly to the Iraqi capital to hold talks with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and address a rally of U.S. troops.

"Bush has come to meet Iraqi leaders, thank the troops and celebrate the new security agreement," a White House official said.
Bush arrived first by helicopter at the presidential palace for talks with President Jalal Talabani and his two vice-presidents. He planned to meet later with Maliki. Bush's trip -- his fourth to Iraq since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion -- follows approval of a security pact between Washington and Baghdad last month that paves the way for U.S. forces to withdraw by the end of 2011.

Unlike previous visits which were so secret that there were no official welcoming ceremonies, this time there were.

Sadly, the host of the Iraqi version of Countdown was on hand and tried to attack the President.
The president's appearance was interrupted by a man, apparently a journalist, who leapt to his feet and threw his shoe at the president, who ducked and thus narrowly missed being struck. Chaos ensued. The [man] threw a second shoe, which also narrowly missed the president. The president was at no point injured and he brushed off the incident. "All I can report is it is a size 10." The pool's Iraqi colleague said the man shouted, "This is a farewell kiss, dog."

/sarcasm on/Apparently the man and his family were arrested, his wife raped in front of him and then the entire family was thrown screaming into a wood chipper. Oh sorry, that's what would have happened if this brave Iraqi patriot had tried this during Saddam's reign. /sarcasm off/

No one likes to have their country invaded and patrolled by a foreign military, even if it's for a their own long term good but maybe this guy should think about why he suddenly is so courageous and who made that possible.

Meantime, no doubt many on the left are cheering this asshat. The world turned upside down my friends.

UPDATE: Gee, I wonder why this part was left out of the earlier reports:
Some Iraqi journalists stood up to apologize. The White House said Bush ducked to avoid the first shoe, while the second narrowly missed the president. Bush said: "Thanks for apologizing on behalf of the Iraqi people. It doesn't bother me. If you want the facts, it was a size 10 shoe that he threw".

Playing down the incident, the president later added: "I don't know what the guy's cause is... I didn't feel the least bit threatened by it." This is the the second classiest way for Bush to have handled it. The classiest way? Bush pulls a dagger out of his waistband and flings directly into the guy's heart and shoe chucker is dead before he hits the ground (which incidentally is exactly how Dick Cheney would have handled it).

I am really amazed and saddened by the division in this country. It is no surprise that the whole world blames US for all evil in the world when we have an abiding media and a growing number of people in our own country who would waste no time in blaming USA first. A house divided is seen as weak and vulnerable. Our own media would take every opportunity or create if there are not enough, to downplay this great nation and make it a mockery for the rest of the world.

I am an immigrant from India and I have always admired this country for the freedoms and opportunities it has to offer. There is no other nation for which people are willing to stand in long lines in the blistering heat outside embassies to get a chance to enter this nation, some are even willing to die crossing the border to somehow make it to the land of opportunities.

Around the world and at every corner, nations are in an eternal chaos and have their own internal battles and demons to fight. Take India for example, we are engaged in an unrelenting war with radical jihadism, and we were recently attacked by this fanatic cult. Indians were anguished and angry and wanted to retaliate like America, but our spineless leaders came out and condemned the attacks and gave only speeches. In the last two years alone, there have over 5000 ppl killed in bombings and suicide attacks in India, but the leaders of india wanted a peaceful resolution reflecting the sensibilities and resolve of that L****** "mahatma" gandhi. what did we acheive, more bombings, attack on our congress, massacre in mumbai, and more to follow.

Peace is only possible with peaceful people not with someone who are itching to exterminate you.
Bush may be a lot of things, but he had the courage to stand up to this growing and imminent threat and had the resolve to not back down even when the political winds reversed course and slapped him in the face at every turn. Bush has the necessary attributes that Indians only wish there leaders could have. For a better grip on reality and a grasp on the breadth of threat of radical Islam awaiting the shores of this country, ask an Indian or an Israeli.

I hope this country is prepared under infantile Obama to take this threat head on.

We will soon find out how the new President will handle terrorism against the U.S. since it's likely he will be tested despite Joe Biden's stern warnings. For all his faults, and there are plenty, Bush acted swiftly and harshly toward Islamic terrorists and their state sponsors. They have been reduced to throwing shoes.

You Have a Bad Dhimmitude

Once Islam has an upper hand in your country say hello to dhimmitude and goodbye to what little freedom you've had all these years. Don't kid yourself it's coming to a country near you.

Dhimmitude is the condition and experience of those who are subject to dhimma. It represents a behavior dictated by fear and pacifism, rather than resistance; servitude due to cowardice and vulnerability. Dhimmitude requires that non-Muslims peacefully surrender to the Islamic army, for which they will obtain the security for their life, belongings and religion. Non-Muslims must accept a condition of inferiority and humiliation. Dhimmi's are also expected to pay taxes to their Muslim superiors.

This is not something new, in fact it goes back to Mohammed himself. Unlike Jesus of the Christian tradition, who sought to leverage the innate sense of love, compassion and forgiveness in humanity, Mohammed sought to enslave humanity to Allah, the god of fear.

According to Bill Warner, the director of the Center for the Study of Political Islam (CSPI) in this FrontPage Magazine Interview, Mohammed had the insight into the human psyche that all human beings have a genetic disposition to submit to the will of the group and higher ranked individuals.

Warner Explains:
Dhimmi was the perfect tool of subjugation... Christians had to live without legal protection or civil rights. All public space was Islamic. The dhimmi could be insulted, abused and had no recourse. They had to pay the jizya tax. The dhimmi were cattle on the Islamic ranch, but could attend their church or synagogue... What happened to the dhimmis under these conditions? The insults, humiliations and taxes wore the dhimmis down. What happened over time was that the dhimmis converted to Islam. It was easier to avoid all this pain and become a Muslim.

He Continues:

...this may be an extreme statement, but I am honestly unable to find even one issue on which Islam and the kafir culture agree.

Not one.

We have nothing in common. Since the Islamic civilization opposes us on every issue of art, politics, gender, education, the media, free speech, ethics, logic, family, and entertainment, it is an inevitable that the change would annihilate our civilization.

Mohammed agreed to a compromise with the kafirs once in the infamous Satanic verse when he compromised about prayer and the native Arabic gods. The Sira records that the act of compromise was the biggest mistake he ever made. After that, Mohammed never agreed with kafirs and never, ever compromised again. Total submission—annihilation---was Mohammed’s way.

There is no happy compromise that can be worked out with Islam. This is not because we are intolerant, unfeeling or stupid. As an example, the word kafir is the worst word in the human language. There is not one positive or neutral aspect to kafir. Allah loves Muslims and hates kafirs. What is the compromise that will let kafirs and Muslims live together harmoniously?

I urge you to read the interview in full.

It is rather frightening what is happening in Europe as we speak. By the year 2012 in France alone 50% of all men under 40 will be Muslims. The Christian tradition that spawned the great things we think of (and some not so great) when we think of Europe is nearly dead. Pope Benedict XVI clearly recognizes what the trends portend for the future of Europe and Western civilization. He is the second Western leader to speak forcefully on the issue - the first being George W. Bush. Whereas Bush is opposing Islam with the use of extreme force (while spewing nonsense about the "religion of peace") Benedict is busy converting Muslims to Catholicism.

There is much doubt in my mind whether either of these approaches has much chance of success in the long run. Rolling over like a dog is not an option. We must oppose any adoption of Sharia law and emphatically oppose any public concessions for Islamic traditions beyond what we have traditionally granted to Christian or Jewish communities.

Bush is right about this: this is the challenge of our time. Will we stand up for our way of life or roll over like dogs?

The Enemies Within

In a country where government entities are openly hostile to religion isn't it curious how we keep hearing about special accommodations being made for one religion under the guise of "tolerance".

In Minnesota and other states as well we read how colleges and universities are constructing special ritual washing areas for Muslim students because it is an important part of their prayer requirements. These are public institutions not private colleges. Where is this so-called separation of church and state? According to article by Katherine Kersten in the Minneapolis StarTribune the accommodations will not stop there.

"eventual objectives on American campuses include the following, according to the website: permanent Muslim prayer spaces, ritual washing facilities, separate food and housing for Muslim students, separate hours at athletic facilities for Muslim women, paid imams or religious counselors, and campus observance of Muslim holidays."

Again, I ask where is this so-called separation of church and state? These things are already in place in many colleges. We have heard of some colleges who are now removing the crucifix from chapels citing the divisiveness and offensiveness of this Christian symbol.

In Boston it has come to light a sweetheart deal for the Islamic Society of Boston (ISB) for a prime piece of land adjacent to Roxbury Community College. According to an article in the Weekly Standard plans for the land were initially for the construction of a "garage." When the deal was investigated by Bill Sapers, a member of the college's foundation he learned:

"the land had been conveyed for somewhere between 10 percent and 40 percent of its appraised value. On the plot, the ISB was going to build a $22 million mosque with a 125-foot minaret and a 75-foot dome. In exchange for the city's largesse, the ISB would provide nebulously defined services to Roxbury Community College, including an educational lecture series, and nebulously defined services to the city, including maintenance of a nearby public park."

He also learned the the ISB has as members known radical jihadists. It comes as no suprise that most of the local media (read: liberal media) in Boston is ignoring the story. Only the local FOX affiliate (surprise, surprise), The Boston Herald (a paper a fraction of the size of the Boston Globe) and Jeff Jacoby, the token conservative at the Boston Globe, have picked up the ISB's sleight of hand aspect of the story.

There is evidence that just as large swaths of the mainstream media conspired in 1996 to ensure favorable press for Bill Clinton's reelection there has been a concerted effort to turn a blind eye to Islamic encroachment into the public realm. This while the media actively chides Christian and Jewish aspects of the culture for the very same thing. It can be argued fairly that no religion should be entwined into the public realm, but this kind of story is repeating itself across the nation.

There is no intent by me or any of the people bringing this phenomenon to the publics attention to deny Muslims in America their right to worship. Let them build their mosques - we just don't like the double standard and the uncritical examination by the powers in the media and the governments that oversee public policy and the cultural implications of these blinders.

No Soup For You PBS

I used to be a regular supporter of my local PBS station in St. Paul. I put up with all of Bill Moyers one sided exposes' and an endless barrage of Global Warming gibberish. Lately I have been screening the calls that come from KTCA and tearing up the weekly letters pleading for money. I feel justified, of course, those of us who fall into the anti-socialism category and hail from the center-right of the political spectrum have always had to grin and bare three quarters of what gets aired on PBS. It is true that some of the programming on the public station is second to none. I love the apolitical Antiques Roadshow and Austin City Limits as well as some of the NOVA episodes and the other science related documentaries.

Today I sent a comment to PBS via their web site (which I am sure they will neither read nor heed) threatening to withhold any future contributions. Due to a confluence of events I have officially had enough of PBS. After commissioning and paying for the filming of an important documentary called "Islam vs. Islamists: Voices from the Muslim Center" CPB is refusing to air it, and worse, refusing to release the film so that it can be aired elsewhere. Yet, I saw in the paper today that the local PBS affiliate is airing yet another worn out, tired old diatribe about that current and important topic - The Spanish Inquisition. We all know that what happened 700 years ago in a small section of Europe is of far more relevance than a global jihad taking place right now right here in our own country.

PBS, CPB and the left wing media in this country reflexively malign Christianity in every possible way but refuse to even discuss the insane and murderous practices of Islamists in every corner of the world.

This important film tells the story of courageous anti-Islamist Muslims all over the world who have no voice inside their own culture and because of the actions of PBS they will have no voice here in America either. The theo-totalitarian ideology known as Islamism threatens their very lives. These moderates are being maligned, intimidated and threatened with death. Thes people deserve to have a chance to show a different side of Islam. To read more about this controversy click here...

PBS and the general media are gripped in mortal fear and steeped in the dogma of political correctness. So afraid to offend they can't bring themselves to face the truth. The truth that Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson (and George W. Bush) are not Satan's servants and that just possibly Osama bin Laden, Mullah Omar and the late Saddam Hussein are (were).

You can lend a voice to the cause and pressure PBS to either play this film that our tax payer money funded or release the film so it can be aired. Sign the petition if the mood strikes you.

I'm afraid Americans do not understand what is going on or what is at stake - and without the media on the right side it's possible they won't until it is too late. These sort of programs need to be aired without the prejudice of political correctness. And the media and many self loathing Americans have got to stop scapegoating Christianity when it is radical Islam that threatens civilization. All I can say is for those of you who think this is hyperbole and alarmism I hope you're not too attached to your head.
