How to Tell the Good Guys From the Bad Guys at the Border

Rule #1
The good guys are the ones representing the border patrol and are American citizens

Rule #2
The bad guys are the illegal drug smugglers

Well, now that we have this straight let's see if the judicial system can figure it out. At the risk of sounding like a cliche I AM OUTRAGED! You see a pair of border patrol agents have been tried and convicted, facing up to 20 years in jail for "violating the civil rights" of an illegal drug smuggling Mexican and for shooting him in the butt. If their appeal fails they will be going to jail for doing their jobs. There is a petition drive to ask the President to pardon them - there's been no word from the White House.

What really stinks to high Heaven is that American authorities went into Mexico tracked down the drug smuggler and gave him immunity to testify against agents Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos and Jose A. Compean. To these officials I say read Rule #1 and Rule #2.

What is wrong with this country?

Americans allowed their government to become both too large and too mired in politically correct special interests.

Border security is a valid function of federal government, but 90% of federal government function is not valid by any interpretation of founding fathers' intent.

Americans have decided to step back and "let the government do it." So much so, that if the average American gets squeezed between illegal Mexican immigrants and hostile muslim jihadis, Americans have only themselves to blame for surrendering so much of their personal soveriegnty to an obviously bloated and self-interested government.

Look, we are the victims AND the problem. The victims are to blame. Only the victims can turn the situation around. But acting within the government is a dead end. The people have to find a way to act around the government.

Considering all the money we pay the government in taxes, it's clear we are making a lot of problems for ourselves.

I agree with Al Fin; control of the borders IS one of the truly legitimate activities of the government, and we will not have a country if we do not have control of our borders.

This immigration business is going to tear this country apart in years to come if we don`t act. If the government continues to refuse to address this, then the public must. (God bless the Minutemen.)

Merry Christmas to you, Craig!
