The Silence is Deafening, Again

First Sandy Burger, President Clinton's National Security Advisor, gets caught red handed stealing documents (and later destroying them) from the National Archives and nothing much happens to him. Certainly no breathles, endless prattle on the national news shows.

Who could forget William Jefferson's cold hard cash - bribery money - found in his freezer. Instead of the media questioning the circumstances of how he came across $90,000 of ill gotten gains they condemn the manner in which the FBI obtained the evidence. I guess a proper search warrent just wasn't good enough. Jefferson has not only been free of prosecution, he was overwhelmingly re-elected .

Then we learn of very shady land deals made by Senator Harry Reid and not only did the media willfully ignore the "scandal" Reid won his coveted job as Senate Majority Leader. Not word of this was ever spoken again.

Now Senator Diane Feinstein resigns her post on the from the military construction subcommittee under a cloud of suspicion that her husband's companies benefited directly from her position. It was first reported in late January several instances in which Feinstein seemed directly involved in issues that could benefit Perini Corp. and URS Corp. Her husband has ownership in both. Yet if it weren't for the Internet I would have never heard about this pending scandal.

Where is the news media? Oh wait, silly me, these are all Democrats. They don't look a thing like Dick Cheney. Perini Corp sounds nothing like Haliburton.

Yet the news media can go on and on about conspiracy theories that have not a hint of fact behind them as long as the people indicated are conservatives or Rebublicans. We have just been treated to weeks of coverage and speculation over the rightful firings of an handful of Justice Department officials. These "employees" served at the pleasure of the President and can be "asked" to leave at any time for any reason. Everybody knew that including the Democrats who trumped up this non issue and the media who willfully played along.

All I ask is the same righteous indignation and breathless wall to wall coverage we have grown accustomed to when a conservative is involved. Go ahead and tell me the mainstream media is not biased.

1. "If you have ever wondered why the cost of prescription drugs in the United States are the highest in the world or why it's illegal to import cheaper drugs from Canada or Mexico, you need look no further than the pharmaceutical lobby and its influence in Washington, D.C.

In January, one of the first things the new Democratic House of Representatives did was to make it mandatory for Medicare to negotiate lower prices with the drug companies.

A similar measure faces stiff opposition in the Senate, where the drug lobby is spending millions of dollars to defeat it. The president has already announced that if the bill passes, he will veto it."

2. The attorneys were sacked because they were investigating corrupted Republicans. That's a series of scandals neatly bundled into one.

3. About Feinstein, "The investigation was partially funded by the Investigative Fund of The Nation Institute, a non-profit organization affiliated with the liberal magazine The Nation." Any conservative watchdogs out there?

Yep, you're right lobbying in DC is out of control, drug prices are out of control too - and Republican/conservatives who lie cheat and steal are 1.) relentlessly pilloried by the media and 2.) resign in disgrace! (Duke Cunningham comes to mind, as does Congressman Foley)

Where is the endless MSM stories on Diane, Harry, Sandy, and William?

Yep, still holding my breath. I am not for one minute defending the right-wingers who do wrong, they ought to suffer from point 1.) and point 2.) but so should the lefties.
