VP Debate: And the Winner is??? yawn...

Is there anything more pointless than to have two candidates get up on a stage and deliver campaign slogans (mostly half truths and some outright lies). Yes, Sarah Palin did all right tonight, and so did Joe Biden for that matter. Neither made any tremendous gaffes. But neither was even remotely interesting.

I like the plain spoken, folksy style of Palin so much more than Biden's "listen, I was first Senator to support ____________ (fill in the blank) and Barack Obama has always supported blah, blah, blah. However, Palin missed every single opportunity to nail the Democrats on this current financial crisis. Instead she decided it would be better to single out corruption on Wall Street. Biden just kept saying George Bush, George Bush, George Bush. Yawn...

While she seemed pretty confident she said next to nothing. Biden just kept telling half truth after bald faced lie - over and over. Palin almost never called him out on any of it. At least he responded to her half truths, albiet with lies of his own.

To be honest, I turned the sound down and played my guitar.

Could either of these two be the President of the United States? God, I hope not. Biden may be a "nice guy" but he bores the life right out of me. He is also a closet socialist, his voting record confirms it. She, on the other hand, has more confidence and moxy than substance. I do think she could grow into it. I think she has good political instincts and she can communicate without coming off as a condescending jerk. This is the curse of the nuanced, overly cautious politicos that are served up year after year. Jesse Ventura rode into the Minnesota's Governors mansion on just such a dynamic. It was refreshing to hear straight-forward, damn-the-torpedoes talk on the stump. Unfortunately for Ventura and Minnesota, he was a flipping nutcase.

In closing I would just like to say to the American people: thank the merciful Lord there will be no more VP debates!
